The $5.00 Five Gallon
I got this tank off of Craigslist a few days ago. It was nasty, extremely smelly and the light had been totally corroded into the fixture. I could tell it had been used for fish from the canal by their home which is brackish and nasty from all the run off of the city.
Better Pix to come...
Cycling 5 gal. Will have the 2nd female crayfish and a few rosey reds for action and dinner. |
3 Gallon Round
My Female Betta, Saphire. She is in a 2.5 gal. round. I was worried about the size and stuff but she is doing great. |
The $0.00 Ten Gallon
I've been keeping fresh water aquarium for 43 years in some form or another. I did all the super huge tanks, 55 gal. + and the monster fish but decided that to go small is a real challenge. Lots of fun and opens up a world of decor and lighting for a room that makes this such a fun hobby.
This 10 gal. found in a dumpster. Brand new never held water. Going to take some $$ to put it together. |
Sold a rug and BF added the mask ,the internal filter and LED hood |
Got Momma Crayfish for a whole dollar at Fins and Skins . Coolest aquarium and reptile place I've been to in a long time. |
Momma Cray 4 weeks and several molts later. Turned out to be a beautiful blue clawed crayfish! She ate her mate for Valentines Day. What a character. She's got her favorite snack, frozen peas. |
All About my Hobbies
I just needed a place to post about the stuff I do in my spare time, which lately I've had way too much of. Been out of work for 3 months and it's driving me crazy!
No money at all so I found stuff to do for free. Like my rugs. The 'needle' I use is made from a coat hanger and the fabric is all stuff I find around where I live. For the price of a good wash and dry I have what I need to stay occupied and make a little cash.
The Aquariums were all free finds in dumpsters or cheap off of Craigslist. Except for the round betta tank, which I treated myself to with my tax return, the rest was done free or cheap. The crayfish (a whole $1.00 each) and the nice filters were birthday gift from my BF.
Here is a place I can put my stuff for me and if other people like it then cool beans....
