The Chair rug

9-2-13

Wow just noticed I got my matching blue toenails and my tan line in the shot LOL

This was going to be in my Van as I took out the 2nd seat for the dogs but the old man loves this over the back of his chair.

DIY C02 for planted tank

Learned this off of YouTube. Thank You to Dustinfishtanks on YouTube. He rocks his fishies!

This is a double filteration set up. Need to use the blue airline as the clear dosen't work at all.

These are sport drink bottles because they do not tip over like soda bottles do.
My Craigslist Tanks. As of today Sept. 2nd 2013.

My $5.00 - 5 gal. Home to one badly beaten up betta, Saphire and her friends the Ghost Shrimp Trio. (She's doing great.)

The Free 10 g (as in I was walking doggies and saw this tank sitting by the dumpster)-. Bought the LED hood and equipment for it. Home to one red female betta names Shirley and baloon mollies with one soon to grow out of his tank Pleco.

The $15.00 - 10 g. Hex. Ccame with everything, stand, 2 pumps, 2 HUGE tetra min cans. Filter system and airstones (which I tossed out, YUCK)

I am going to 'cap' the 15 g. tomorrow with natural rock. All the plants are live. Keeping it all going with my DIY Co2.

Not much to do on a rainy, hot summer day. Just an afternoon Siesta on Momma's van seat. I can pretend we're going somewhere cool.

Up and running once again

Back and on line. Been working and taking care of my fish. The ten g. crashed hard and it had to be re done. Betta sorority was fighting after the re-do so had to remove the agressor to her own private tank. Looking forward to getting a long tank and doing aquascape. Thinking of splitting it into 2 tanks and doing 2 different 'bodies of water'. Got the idea from Fish Tank Kings on Natgeo. tv.

3 Of the Tanks

2.5 gal. 1 female blue betta and 1 ADF living good in a Sand Castle World.

5 gal. Looks much better now than this. Currently a Female Red, White and Blue betta, 1 fancy guppie, 3 Rosey Reds adn one small crayfish. The Betta seems pretty smart about the cray....we'll see as time goes on.

10 gal. basic tank. Home of Roberta Cray-Fish. She is about 2-3" long. Re is a decorator so it's got to be simple. 2 white cloud minows ans 3 feeder guppies just for some action. If she gets them she does!

The $5.00 Five Gallon

I got this tank off of Craigslist a few days ago. It was nasty, extremely smelly and the light had been totally corroded into the fixture. I could tell it had been used for fish from the canal by their home which is brackish and nasty from all the run off of the city.

Better Pix to come...
Cycling 5 gal. Will have the 2nd female crayfish and a few rosey reds for action and dinner.

3 Gallon Round

My Female Betta, Saphire. She is in a 2.5 gal. round. I was worried about the size and stuff but she is doing great.

Saphire meets her new friend Steve the Frog. I was nervous she'd shred him but they are like best friends, if that was possible. One the nervousness wore off they live in total harmony. I'll post better pix when I can.

The $0.00 Ten Gallon

I've been keeping fresh water aquarium for 43 years in some form or another. I did all the super huge tanks, 55 gal. + and the monster fish but decided that to go small is a real challenge. Lots of fun and opens up a world of decor and lighting for a room that makes this such a fun hobby.

This 10 gal. found in a dumpster. Brand new never held water. Going to take some $$ to put it together.
Sold a rug and BF added the mask ,the internal filter and LED hood

Got Momma Crayfish for a whole dollar at Fins and Skins . Coolest aquarium and reptile place I've been to in a long time.

Momma Cray 4 weeks and several molts later. Turned out to be a beautiful blue clawed crayfish! She ate her mate for Valentines Day. What a character. She's got her favorite snack, frozen peas.

All About my Hobbies

I just needed a place to post about the stuff I do in my spare time, which lately I've had way too much of. Been out of work for 3 months and it's driving me crazy!

No money at all so I found stuff to do for free. Like my rugs. The 'needle' I use is made from a coat hanger and the fabric is all stuff I find around where I live. For the price of a good wash and dry I have what I need to stay occupied and make a little cash.

The Aquariums were all free finds in dumpsters or cheap off of Craigslist. Except for the round betta tank, which I treated myself to with my tax return, the rest was done free or cheap. The crayfish (a whole $1.00 each) and the nice filters were birthday gift from my BF.

Here is a place I can put my stuff for me and if other people like it then cool beans....
